The area of Nishijin is famous for its charming sightseeing locations such as the Kyoto Imperial Palace and
Kitano Tenmangu and Seimei Shrines. Amongst these historical sites are nestled three craft beer breweries
and a specialty bottle shop known as the "Mecca of Craft Beer"! For the first time, these four companies
have come together to create "Nishijin CRAFT BEER TOWN" with the aim of establishing the ultimate craft beer
destination!
Nishijin is "The Town of Craft Beer" in Kyoto, and we want people from Japan and across the
world to visit and explore its quaint charm whilst enjoying fresh craft beer tucked away in
lesser known corners of the town. This is “Nishijin Craft Beer Town”, giving this wonderful
region even further appeal.
Nishijin Brewery Stamp Rally!
An experiential tour to learn about the world of craft beer by visiting four craft beer
locations!
An event for everyone including university students!
Paired with a long-established Japanese confectionery shop!!
And more! Planning is ongoing for all things "Kyoto Nishijin, the town of craft beer"!!
A craft beer brand made in Nishijin, Kyoto.
Without being bound by any one concept, the brewers work together with a variety of people to make
their beers, and each one with their own twist.
Furthermore, because craft beer can be made in small batches, we are exploring many possibilities in
the types of the beer we produce.
This brewery is run by a brewmaster who was born and raised in Kyoto.
The concept is "beer to enjoy with meals." The aim is to make beer that harmonizes with and
complements food, in order to enhance and enrich mealtimes.
They also take part in many beer events across the country.
Based on classic British styles, Bighand Bros beer is brewed using small tanks in small batches,
allowing for exceptional care and attention for each brew. That is Bighand Bros beer.
Though many are based on British styles, Bighand Bros maintains a strong identity with every beer,
and can be perfectly paired with meals and sweets which will enrich your daily life.
Yamaoka Liquor Store
A long-running liquor store known as the mecca of craft beer.
We always have 260 types of Japanese craft beer in stock, and over 20 types of imported beer, mainly
from America!!
We strive to provide the freshest flavor and preserve the taste of the original beer.
If you visit all four craft beer locations, collecting stamps as you go, you can drink at a discount! Along
the way, stop by Nishijin's famous landmarks and long-established Japanese sweetshops to enjoy Nishijin to
its fullest!
The best time to go is on a Saturday when all four breweries and shops are open!
Nishijin Beer collaborates with storied sweets store Tsuruya Yoshinobu to provide Japanese
sweets in our taproom.
Discover how traditional sweets pair surprisingly well with craft beer.
We will also be holding an experience tour for visitors from overseas, with the aim of spreading the appeal
of the Nishijin area, including its craft beer, history and culture, to as many people as possible. (We are
planning this for next year!)
Nishijin is an area with many universities, so we want students to experience the joys of craft beer while
they are still studying! We want you to try it! We will also be holding an event where craft beer experts
will talk about the wonders of craft beer! Please look out for the next event!
